Liberation Heritage Route

Liberation Heritage Route is part of the Tentative list of South Africa in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. This site (or parts of it) has already been inscribed under Robben Island WHS.
Liberation Heritage Route (submitted in 2009) is a serial nomination consisting of several places associated with the key aspects of the South African Liberation against apartheid. It was intended as the first instalment of a trans-national serial nomination with other members of the Southern African Development Community. Most of its component have since been included in the more refined and developed project of 2015 “Human Rights, Liberation Struggle and Reconciliation: Nelson Mandela Legacy Sites”.
