Lubenice is part of the Tentative list of Croatia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Lubenice is an ancient fort city on the island of Cres on top of a 380 m high ridge. The site has prehistoric origins and it was known as Hibernitia in Roman Times. Today it has only 24 permanent inhabitants. Its urban structure is mostly medieval, complemented by baroque buildings such as chapels.
