Buddhistic cloister of Ajina-Tepa

Buddhistic cloister of Ajina-Tepa is part of the Tentative list of Tajikistan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Buddhistic cloister of Ajina-Tepa (also included in the serial nomination “Silk Road Sites in Tajikistan”) is the remains of a Buddhist cloister built of massive blocks of adobe and in function in the 7-9 the century. During the 1960s archeologist excavated a 13 meter giant sleeping Buddha statue (now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan in Dushanbe)
