Zorkul State Reserve

Zorkul State Reserve is part of the Tentative list of Tajikistan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Zorkul State Reserve is a very remote alpine steppe of south-eastern Tajikistan. It is centered around the Zorzul lake lying at 4125 meters high and divided in two by the Tajik-Afghan border. There is a significant number of resident or passage birds, and many rare mammals including the snow leopard, lynx, Pallat’s cat, Marco Polo Sheep and Siberian ibex.
