Historical Relics in Pyongyang is part of the Tentative list of Korea (DPR) in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. It is a proposed extension of WHS.

The city has been the capital of Koguryo from 427 till 668 and designated as a secondary capital during the Koryo Dynasty. Koguryo moved its seat of power from Jian, China to the area in and around Mt. Taesong with Anhak Palace as its center, and again to the area of the present part of the city between the rivers Taedong and Pothong. Hence, numerous sites during Ancient Korea are found in and around the city.
