The castles of Mount Amel

The castles of Mount Amel: Qalaat Al Chakif (Beaufoert castle), Qalaat Tibnin (Toron castle), Qalaat Chakra (Dubieh castle), Qalaat Deir kifa (Maron Castle), Burj Al Naoqoura (Naqoura tower) is part of the Tentative list of Lebanon in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The castles of Mount Amel are four fortified structures from the Crusader and Islamic periods. They show the exchange of western and eastern influences. They date from the 11th – 13th centuries and are all located on hilltops.
