Mount Nimba Strict Reserve (extension) is part of the Tentative list of Liberia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. It is a proposed extension of Mount Nimba WHS.

East Nimba Nature Reserve covers the Liberian part of the Nimba range. It is the habitat of many endemic species such as the critically endangered Nimba toad and Nimba otter shrew, and it is an Endemic Bird Area. Chimpanzee famous for their tool use also inhabit these forests.
