Aire naturelle terrestre protégée d'Assamo is part of the Tentative list of Djibouti in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Assamo Protected Natural Area is an arid mountain region home to the endemic Beira antelope. They are adapted to the landscape and feed on the shrubs from the rocky areas.
