Réserve de la biosphere Banco Chincorro is part of the Tentative list of Mexico in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Banco Chincorro is a large coral atoll located in the Caribbean Sea. The reserve includes coral reefs, seagrass beds, sandbanks, rocky islets, shrubby areas, sandy beaches and adjacent ocean waters, and is home to an important biodiversity typical of coral reefs. The site contains an abundant underwater archaeological heritage, including 44 shipwrecks with an age ranging between the 16th and 20th centuries.
