Temple of Serabit Khadem

.

Temple of Serabit Khadem is part of the Tentative list of Egypt in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Temple of Serabit Khadem in the Sinai peninsula comprises the remains of a temple of Hathor, the goddess that protected people in the deserts. Turquoise was mined here extensively in Antiquity and prisoners of war were used for the hard labour. Thirty incised graffiti in a "Proto-Sinaitic script" were discovered here and became known as the Serabit Inscriptions.
