Site à Hominidés anciens du Djourab is part of the Tentative list of Chad in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Hominid sites in the sand dunes of Djourab comprise fossiliferous sectors from four different geological periods (3 – 7 million years ago) that are crucial in the knowledge of human origin. Two sites have yielded remains of ancient hominids: Koro - Toro delivered Abel (Australopithecus bahrelghazali), the first Australopithecus discovered west of the Rift Valley; and Toros Menalla, produced Toumai (Sahelanthropus tchadensis); the oldest known representative of the human lineage.
