La Tour de Goto Goulfey
La Tour de Goto Goulfey is part of the Tentative list of Cameroon in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Tower of Goto Goulfey is an earthen construction in cubic shape with a tapered top, built out of clay and protected with “gley”, a sort of slimy earth from the river bed. The tower has a military function and is part of the town walls, and also has a religious function, as it is linked to the Varan cult. The tower’s OUV is linked to it being a masterpiece of the human genius and to its religious ties to the traditions of the Varan cult.
