Garo Hills Conservation Area (GHCA)

Garo Hills is part of the Tentative list of India in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Garo Hills comprises three natural reserves which are the traditional homes of the indigenous Garo community. The Garo see specific places in the Garo Hills as sacred and use them in their worshio. The natural features of this forested area include the Siju Cave system, rocks with fossils and the presence of 52 species of mammals.
