Dominican Republic

3.0 1 13

Dominican Republic ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 12 February 1985.

Its heritage is chiefly cultural, focusing on Santo Domingo’s Colonial City (first New World capital), pre‑Columbian cave art, and historic townscapes. Natural sites only feature on the Tentative List, with biosphere reserves covering coastal and rainforest ecosystems. The country juxtaposes an early European colonial legacy with Caribbean biodiversity.
