Session 50 of the World Heritage Committee (WHC)

This page presents the potential candidates for discussion at the WHC meeting in 2028.

2028 will be the first year that the mandatory Preliminary Assessment process will take effect: only sites that have gone through such an assessment are eligible for nomination. 34 sites have been submitted in time to take part in 2028 at the earliest. Only in May 2027 will UNESCO publicize the official list of candidates that have submitted a valid nomination for 2028.

Additional nominations can come from sites that have been Referred in the past 3 years. Also, State Parties can decide to withdraw candidates before evaluation or discussion. As a community of WH Travellers, we aim to keep track of updates via the WHC 2028 forum topic.
