Ouballang ra Ngebedech
Ouballang ra Ngebedech (Ngebedech Terraces) is a series of prehistoric terraced hills that are a prominent feature of the cultural landscape of Palau. The terraces were constructed in an area of upland savanna surrounded by forest, and may have been used for agriculture, settlement, defense, and ceremonial functions. The lower terraces appear to have been primarily agricultural, while the upper terraces on the hilltops may have served as community refuges in times of civil unrest.
