Nyika-Vwaza Wildlife Reserve comprises a savannah area that is an important Afro-montane centre of plant biodiversity.
Lake Kaulime, located in the park, was a spiritual sanctuary. Stone artifacts and remains of iron smelting have also been found. The site also includes Vwaza Marsh
