Sri Veerabhadra Temple and Monolithic Bull
Sri Veerabhadra Temple and Monolithic Bull (Nandi), Lepakshi (The Vijayanagara Sculpture and Painting Art Tradition) is part of the Tentative list of India in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Sri Veerabhadra Temple and Monolithic Bull, both located in the town of Lepakshi, are the best examples of the Vijayanagara Sculpture and Painting Art Tradition. The temple holds the only surviving fresco paintings of the mid-Vijayanagara Period (15C). The Nandi (bull), carved out of a single granite rock, is a prime example of its sculptures.
