Wadi Hower National Park - Gala Abou Ahmed (mixed natural and cultural site) is part of the Tentative list of Sudan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Wadi Howar National Park comprises an extinct chain of marshes and lakes. It is the remnant of the ancient Yellow Nile, a tributary of the Nile. In it lies the fortress of Gala Abou Ahmed from the Kingdom of Kush. Over 2,400 prehistoric archaeological sites have been documented as well.
