Lota Mining Complex is part of the Tentative list of Chile in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Lota Mining Complex comprises 4 sites related to the 19th and 20th century exploitation of minerals under the seabed of the Pacific Ocean. It includes both the industrial installations, and housing and public buildings for the workers’ families. The technology was cutting-edge and involved the exchange with professionals from Europe and North America. The mines were closed in the 1990s.
