The Tana Delta and Forests Complex is part of the Tentative list of Kenya in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Tana delta and the Tana forest are two serial sites that represent the Eastern Arc Mountains and Coastal Forests biodiversity hotspot. They are rich in biodiversity and have a high level of endemism (including the primates Tana River Red Colobus and Tana River Mangabey). The included delta of the Tana river, the longest river of Kenya at 1000km, is 65km long and ends at the Indian Ocean.
