Chirundu Fossil Forest is part of the Tentative list of Zambia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Chirundu Fossil Forest is a national monument containing fossilized or petrified tree trunks from the Karoo age during the Jurassic period. The fossils of coniferous trees bear evidence of a former temperate climate subject to seasonal variations. This site includes superb fossilized tree trunks, with some measuring up to 1.2 meters in diameter, and others measuring up to ten meters in length.
