The Route of The Rivers

.

The Route of The Rivers is part of the Tentative list of Guatemala in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Route of The Rivers comprises a number of Mayan archaeological sites along the Usumancinta river. This cross-border river was an important trade route and Yaxchilan (Mexico) and Piedras Negras (Guatemala), two of the most powerful cities of the Maya Classic Period, lie along its banks.
