The Eastern Mongolian Steppes are a serial proposal of five protected areas that represent the last intact large-scale steppe grassland on earth.

The ecoregion is dominated by vast grasslands with several bush and shrub species. The protected areas are home to the endemic white-tailed gazelle and several endemic plant species.
