Desert National Park comprises the ecosystem of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.
The area is extremely hot and arid. The landscape is composed of sand dunes and rocks. Important dinosaur fossil findings have been made at the Wood Fossil Park at Akal and there is petrified wood there as well. Migratory and resident birds equipped for the desert live in the park, including the endangered great Indian bustard in fairly high numbers.
