The Anti-seismic Heritage of Almaty
Architectural Resilience: The Anti-seismic Heritage of Almaty comprises three monuments that exemplify innovative approaches to earthquake-resistant architecture.
These are:
- Ascension (Voznesensky) Cathedral (1904–1907)
- House of Government of the Kazakh SSR (1950s–1957)
- Kazakhstan Hotel (1977)
They served as models for subsequent construction practices in seismically active regions across the USSR and Central Asia.
