Kourion is yet another Roman city on the Mediterranean shore. Even Cyprus itself has two other similar sites to offer: Paphos and Salamis, the latter currently being located in the Turkish Northern Cyprus. Kourion is beatufially located next to the shore and features some nice mosaics, however, it cannot compete with nearby Paphos, neither artistically nor historically. It is a nice day-tour out of Limassol (itself a nice town), but nothing justifying a WHS status, as many Roman cities of greater quality already feature on the list. This was also Icomos's view which led to the site being first deferred and later omitted from the T-list.
