Ireland ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 16 September 1991.

Its inscribed sites are cultural only. Recurring themes include Neolithic passage-tomb landscapes (notably Brú na Bóinne) and early medieval monastic architecture (such as Skellig Michael).

Nomination Pipeline: Ireland has no upcoming nominations in the coming years, apart from the Transatlantic Cable Stations together with Canada (aiming for 2029). It has announced a Strategy for World Heritage in Ireland 2025-2035, intending to rigorously update its Tentative List.
