How we compiled this List

During the months of December 2015 and January 2016, the self-appointed "experts" in WHS discussed what we regarded as being the most valuable ones out of the 1031 inscribed WHS. Consider the mythical "little green man" asking us Earthlings to tell it which, of all the places on Earth which we have inscribed on this thing called the "World Heritage List", are most important to us to be preserved?

We looked at the WHS from the angle of 'Categories', so we could compare them easily with their peers. We split them in Definitely (all or most agree), Maybe (some arguments in favour) and No (one or noone in favour). See the WHS Top 200 Subforum for all deliberations. All 1031 WHS are covered. There are 220 sites with a 'Yes', 324 with a Maybe and 487 with a No.
