The Eastern Arc Coastal Forests

The Eastern Arc Coastal Forests (Arabuko-Sokoke Forest and Shimba Hills National Reserve) is part of the Tentative list of Kenya in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Eastern Arc Coastal Forests comprise Arabuko-Sokoke Forest and Shimba Hills National Reserve. Arabuko-Sokoke Forest is an area of high endemism with occurrence of the rare Golden-rumped Elephant shrew, Ader's Duiker and Sokoke Bushy-tailed Mongoose. Shimba Hills National Reserve has both rainforest and grassland, and is home to the Sable Antelope. These large forests represent the Coastal Forests of Eastern Africa biodiversity hotspot, which could become a future transnational serial nomination.
