Aberdare Mountains is part of the Tentative list of Kenya in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Aberdare Mountains form the easternmost wall of the Great Rift Valley and were thus formed due to tectonic movement. The mountain range is encompassed by Aberdare National Park (above the tree line) and Aberdares Forest Reserve (the lower slopes). It is known for its waterfalls and Eastern Arc fauna and flora species.
