The African Great Rift Valley - The Marakwet Escarpment Furrow Irrigation System is part of the Tentative list of Kenya in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Marakwet Escarpment Furrow Irrigation System is a traditional, clan-owned irrigation landscape. It is based on a communal system of division of the maintenance work and the rewards. Streams descending the Marakwet escarpment supply water to the irrigation furrows.
