Qasr al-Hayr ach-Charqi

Un Chateau du désert: Qasr al-Hayr ach- Charqi is part of the Tentative list of Syria in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Qasr al-Hayr ach-Charqi is an Umayyad desert castle from the 8th century. It is a large castle surrounded by a wall. Within the ramparts lies a courtyard, two palaces and apartments. The castle was supplied with water by a canal.
