Romanesque Cultural Enclave

.

Romanesque Cultural Enclave in the North of Castile-Leon and the South of Cantabria is part of the Tentative list of Spain in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Located on both sides of the Cantabrian Mountains, here the highest density of Romanesque monuments in Spain and Europe can be found. Due to the constant territorial and political divisions suffered by these territories throughout history, there is no clearly marked stylistic unity. NB: the data of this tentative site have been erroneously mixed up at the UNESCO website with the Bulwarked Frontier Fortifications; we present here a recreation of the original entry and a guestimate of its locations.
