Reserve de Biosphere de l'Archipel des Bijagos is part of the Tentative list of Guinea-Bissau in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Archipel des Bijagos is an archipelago composed of intertidal zones (mudflats and sandbanks), mangroves and palm trees which cover the terrestrial areas. The fauna is rich and diverse, particularly with regard to fish (155 species), marine turtles (5 species) and birds (with one million individuals, it is the second most important site for migratory birds in West Africa). Manatees, crocodiles, dolphins, hippos and land mammals are also found here.
