Two citadels in Sinai from the Saladin period (Al-Gundi and Phataoh's island) is part of the Tentative list of Egypt in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The two citadels in the Sinai from the Saladin period comprise Al Gundi fortress and the citadel on Pharaoh’s Island. Both date from the 12th century and held strategic positions. They played major roles during the Crusades.
