Throne Villages

.

Throne Villages is part of the Tentative list of Palestine in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Throne Villages is a serial site consisting of 13 villages in the central highlands of Palestine, what is known today as the West Bank. These villages were the residences of the sheikhs, the local leaders during the late Ottoman period in the 18th and 19th centuries. The villages were typically situated on a hill, with a fortified palace in the centre surrounded by the small and simple peasant houses.
