Taza et la Grande Mosqué is part of the Tentative list of Morocco in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Taza is an ancient city whose importance dates back to the Almohad period (12th century). Its Grand Mosque also dates of that era. Founded in 1172, the mosque was enlarged during the reign of the late 13th century Marinid dynasty. It is composed of a main building and of a "grand courtyard", with nine exterior gates.
