Suakin

Suakin is part of the Tentative list of Sudan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Suakin is a Red Sea port that had its heydays during the medieval and Ottoman periods. It traded with Venice and India, and ferried African pilgrims to Mecca. The old city was built of coral, including houses and mosques.
