Sovi Basin

Sovi Basin is part of the Tentative list of Fiji in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Sovi Basin in the southeast of the island of Viti Levu is a bowl-shaped basin covered by lowland tropical forest and surrounded by volcanic peaks up to an altitude of almost 1200 metres. The Sovi Basin is part of the Polynesia/Micronesia Biodiversity Hotspot and has been identified as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International.
