Le Chateau-fort médieval d'Esztergom
Le Chateau-fort médieval d'Esztergom is part of the Tentative list of Hungary in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. It is a proposed extension of WHS.
The castle of Esztergom was the royal residence and center of the Hungarian state when it was its capital from the 10th till the mid-13th century. Most of the castle and the structures within were destroyed in the 17th century during the Ottoman-Habsburgs wars. It is now partly restored and medieval frescoes and paintings have been preserved.
