Eastern Mongolian Steppes is part of the Tentative list of Mongolia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Eastern Mongolian Steppes are a serial proposal of five protected areas that represent the last intact large-scale stipa grassland on earth. The ecoregion is dominated by vast grasslands with several bush and shrub species. The protected areas are home to the endemic white-tailed gazelle and several endemic plants species.
