Desert National Park

.

Desert National Park is part of the Tentative list of India in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. It is a proposed extension of WHS.

Desert National Park comprises the ecosystem of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. The area is extreme hot and arid. The landscape is composed of sand dunes and rocks. Important dinosaur fossil findings have been made at the Wood Fossil Park at Akal and there is petrified wood there as well. Migratory and resident birds equipped for the desert live in the park, including the endangered great Indian bustard in fairly high numbers.
