Bimbia et ses sites associés

.

Bimbia et ses sites associés is part of the Tentative list of Cameroon in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

Bimbia and associated sites represent the strategic importance of the coast of Cameroon as a point of transit and supply, because of its geographical situation halfway between Senegal and Angola. Among the sites are ports, markets and chiefdoms that represent the commercial traffic, with specific attention to the slave trade. The sites are a testimony of the evolution of the transatlantic slave trade from the 16th until the 19th century and of the trade network between the coastal ports, between the ports and the hinterland, and between the inland trade centres.
