Archaeological site of Ghirza is part of the Tentative list of Libya in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Archaeological site of Ghirza comprises the remains of a Roman city. It was located near the Limes Tripolitanus, a defence zone along the Sahara desert to protect Roman cities such as Leptis Magna against attacks from the south. With the soldiers, Roman culture also entered the local settlement.
