Connections for Wixarika Route

The Wixárika Route through Sacred Sites to Wirikuta is a network of roads and sanctuaries illustrating the traditional beliefs of the Wixárika (Huichol) people.

It is one of the most representative pre-Columbian routes still in use in the Americas. The route stretches over 500 km in North-Central Mexico. The annual pilgrimages of the Huichol are at the centre of their identity, belief and traditions and have strong links with the ecosystems they pass through and the species that inhabit them.

Community Perspective: the only reviewers so far have visited Xapawleyeta, a sacred Huichol site that is NOT part of the included 20 components, but it provides a general insight into what you may expect. The most accessible component is the Cerro de la Bufa in Zacatecas.
