The 2 years restoration of Byodoin Temple, part of Kyoto WHS, is almost done. You can see how the ancient wooden building become now from its official website, only in Japanese but the amazing photos in the website are beyond language barrier (or just use google translate :P)

This is making headlines since yesterday:

But I believe the area they are referring to is outside of the WHS, isn't it?

Yes -the inscribed site consists of 2 lake islands together with a chunk of land at the N East side of the lake. This discovery is on the SW side a fair distance away from any of them and on the "wrong side"!
Actually , several web based maps seem to show Nataruk as being rather a long way south west of the lake (follow the co-ordinates on the top RHS of this article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nataruk,_Kenya ) but it seems that this must relate to a town/village of that name rather than to the site itself as yet another article refers to the site being "30kms" from today's lakeside (presumably "Nataruk" is the closest "town" ).

It is interesting how these "coincidences" occur - as some may have noticed I have been investigating the time period of a number of unassigned African Natural sites and, whilst doing the investigation had noted that in the Holocene period (and on earlier occasions too) Lake Turkana had been both much larger/higher but ALSO had flowed INTO the NIle. (Currently its main water input is FROM the Omo River flowing into IT and it has no outflow - only evaporation!!)
