As far as Jonthanf's extensive list, it was informally used as a guideline. Users seconded many of his proposals. But the general rule stated by Els was 3 suggesstions (favorites). Khuft and I who seemed to be the unnoficial tally "people" did not include every site on the three extensive lists. Most, but not all, it depended on user support.

Fair enough - I am catching up I guess! I will "think" more about Carnac. It is a bit more than a few dolmens and, whilst I am not particularly wanting to add to the European part of the list it is potentially up there with other world class megalithic sites.

And what about the Triple Arch Gate (whose "merits", such as they are, I have just seen!) and other "pending" sites. How many of those are there on the current voting list - i.e only there because they have already been found by UNESCO to have OUV.

JONATHANFR suggested the following sites and obviously due to their outstanding universal value has been officially proven.

-Bolgar
-Maymand
-Chauvet
-Triple-arch Gate at Dan

We can not delete his suggestion without his permission.
meltwaterfalls:
Chauvet is the best of them from my point of view

But I do not know why -Bolgar & Maymand are not posted here

Can we include Golconda fort ? It has outstanding acoustic property and history.
It was included in m_m's as well as Jonathan's list. I also support this.
http://www.worldheritagesite.org/forums/index.php?action=vthread&forum=6&topic=59&pag e=0#msg398

I also want to include Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (columbia).
Reaching an altitude of 5,700 m (18,700 ft) just 42 km (26 mi) from the Caribbean coast, the Sierra Nevada is the world's highest coastal range. The Sierra Nevada encompasses about 17,000 km2 (6,600 sq mi) and serves as the source of 36 rivers.(wiki)

Both sites were NOT recommended for inscription though some level of OUV was demonstrated. The later 2 sites were recommended for Inscription. That is partly why they are listed here. Also remember I (without any authority) am trying NOT to include more suggestions from 1 person over another. If anyone else supports Maymand or Bolgar, we should add it. Otherwise, no.

As far as Qutb Shahi Monuments of Hyderabad: Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Charminar this will be evaluated in 2014 or 2015. Which does not disqualify it from our voting list, so is there further support for this nomination? Looks great (in my opinion), but I have never visited India.

Couple sites to think about:

Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (Columbia)
Carnac (France)
Golconda Fort (India)

Thanks for the reply. Golconda is just supported by m_m, Jonathanrfr and me. I hope 3 votes are sufficient. But still want to get more suggestion on this site.

I wasn't suggesting it - if that is the reason they are there we can decide ourselves whether it is "enough" of a reason! My own view is that it is not. Again - it is of interest to understand how/why some of the "New" entries on the list got there

I have been to them - Golconda is an impressive structure but the "Fortress market" is already well populated on the list! And it is very badly looked after. Similarly with the tombs. Dare I say it - I found the Pakistani tombs we saw recently of more interest/value (but wouldn't consider they had "top 50" value)!! The Charminar is "iconic" to Indians I supsect. I am not against it being added but I wouldn't be voting for it as a major "miss" (although i do support many of those from India on the list already and am thinking that India should have a few more "gems" hidden away somewhere!)

I also do not think qutb shahi or charminar as major miss. I just want to know the opinion only about Golconda.

I also agree with that. but Golconda is unique due to acoustic property and Diamond route.
However I respect your decision

Assif, at first suggested some sites, based on their "demonstrated" OUV by ICOMOS. We were still in the early stages of this process. I personally had no idea if the site merited Top 50 discussions or not. Should I remove it? Any objections by Assif or others?

No, no objection. I actually suggested removing some of them myself, but then came the argument some other forum members might find them valuable even if I pull back my proposal.
I would also like to second Carnac.

Again - it is of interest to understand how/why some of the "New" entries on the list got there

In this regard, everyone was generally given (3) suggestions (favorites) outside their country of origin. These were added automatically, others were by general support from the extensive list by Assif, Jonathanf, and kkanekhan (and by other suggestions).

The "rules" have been leniently followed for inclusion sake and more participation (indeed over 16 individuals suggested sites). For example, sometimes users suggested 4 sites, or perhaps one site in their home country. I've tried to accommodate everyone, while keeping some form of framework. Khuft also did some of the organizing of sites.

It was generally agreed that there would be no change of the ORIG sites that were part of the Top 50 missing. These would be re-voted upon and are all included here. I was overruled on this, initially I wanted to delete some of these original suggestions. But it makes sense, because many of these sites had support, that would be hard to verify today.

We don't have to be to caught up too much on the list here, there is certainly some general agreement, but in all purposes it will be flawed. Surely, many of the "fluff" (lack of a better word) will not be included after the voting rounds.

Total nominations: 116

To clarify, it is not that difficult to get on the voting list, but most sites will be eliminated following the voting rounds. Even if we choose exactly 50, most of the nominations listed here won't make it. Whatever remains can be an inventory list for when nominations in the Top 50 missing are inscribed, no?

sorry, have not been following this attentively. Is support for golconda still needed? I support it.

Apart from that, I also believe we should move on with the Top 50 selection.

FINAL Total: 119 (Voting Round)

Can we agree that this is the final tally? If so, Meltwaterfalls can create the surveymonkey.

There seemed to be sufficient support for Carnac and Golconda, so both were added.

At this point then, we are only waiting for Els for confirmation on procedure/rules. We discussed this and formed some tentative consensus, but I would ultimately support Els in making this Top 50 Missing voting process a reality on this website.

LAST CHANCE!

Is there any possible nominations that we should add before we proceed? Maybe we can consider this the LAST possible opportunity. If I may, I would propose one last site, but it should only be included if there are several supporters since it is from my home country.

United States (Navajo Nation) - Canyon de Chelly National Monument – M – NEW

Representative Collection of Photos URL

This nomination would be the first for the Navajo Nation, the largest tribal nation in the United States and comparable in size (area) to Ireland. Since I am American, I do not want to add such a nomination unless it had wide support. I am aware, there are plenty of US nominations already. So if my proposal does not have support, no worries.
