I agree with Solivagant in c. and d. ! This lengthy discussion was worthwhile. It increased the interaction between members of this site, got many involved (or hooked up sometimes!), we have a list of interesting sites (some of WH value and some that are worthwhile visiting nonetheless) and soon we'll have our results ... I'm really curious now! :)

When I saw the list at first, I got surprised. I suggested some sites which contained many Indian sites and only 5 non-national sites(At that time the rules were not clear).

Band-E-Amir , Speicherstadt and Chilehaus, Neuschwanstein Castle, Ephsus, Crete (Knossos palace)

At first I suggested to include medina but later removed it. winterkjm accidently missed Ephsus.

Okavango , Silk Road were included in Assif's list (but nobody suggested these sites before.
I think it is a remarkable achievement when your 5 out of 7 sites included in top 10 and when you suggest the sites after 12/13 members.
The only new site suggested by other member to be included in top 15 is Oxford, Cambridge university( Evilweevil)

Band-E-Amir , Speicherstadt and Chilehaus

Speicherstadt and Chilehaus are expected to be included in 2015. I know Band-E-Amir will not make into top 50 as its position in Afghanistan.

We should remove these 4 sites after their inscription. AB suggested all of them to WHS.

Can/should they be removed from the "Top 50 missing 2014" version? It was what it was and they were part of it. If/when we ever carry out the exercise again we will have to decide how to determine a new candidate list and obviously any sites inscribed since the 2014 exercise would not be included.

On the other hand it would seem of interest to "highlight" sites from the 2014 "Missing" list which have obtained inscription subsequent to the exercise. This could be done in a number of ways and perhaps raises a few issues about the way the list is currently shown on the new tab (which I fully appreciate is just the list in the format originally used for the voting). For instance do the words "ORIG" and " NEW" now have any useful meaning? As I remember it the phrase indicated whether the suggestion had been in the original list or added during the run up to voting? It might be better to remove and and replace it with a highlighted entry for "INSCRIBED 2014" or whenever.

However we do it we should bear in mind that, at some time, we may need to have "multiple" lists of "Top 50 Missing" sites - 2014, 201?, 201? etc (are we really likely to do it more frequently than every 2 - 3 years? What would the "drivers" be for a new exercise - Our forum/voting membership changes, we gain new knowledge/ideas, a lot of the original sites get inscribed ...?). I personally would prefer that we maintain each of these lists separately on a true "as was" basis rather than change them in the light of events

Each inscribed property could be highlighted by color (perhaps red?) or as Solivagant mentioned "INSCRIBED 2014". Something along this manner makes sense. I also second removing the ORIG & NEW labels.

We could of course "keep track" of more than just inscriptions -also de/referrals and expected/planned nominations together with dates put on T List etc.

I also agree to tracking the sites in missing list. We can highlight 2014 whs as inscribed 2014

Check what?? To which site are you referring - the link isn't specific. Is it Santorini? If so then - Yes, Greece did nominate just Akrotiri in 1989 and it was deferred until the "entire island" could be inscribed. The "History" of Top 50 missing sites should be updated to mention this!

Lena Delta (on the Arctic Ocean) and its Wildlife Reserve is hundreds of miles downstream from Lena Pillars Nature Park (just south of Yakutsk)

Assif wrote (16 Feb 2009) when suggesting this for the top 50 missing "Vienna was home to the Jugendstil - the most influential style of early modernism. This is best portrayed by Otto Wagner and Adam Loos. Some of their monuments are included in the Vienna nomination but others - like Wagner-Kirche and Wagner-Haus are not. Later manifestations of influential modern architecture include Wotruba's Cubistic church and three monuments by Hundertwasser (a residential house, a museum and a waste recycling factory) - all of these are outside of Vienna's centre and not included in current nominations." It was agreed at the time that it would probably be dealt with as an extension if it ever were to be put forward but it is not on Austria's T List as an extension yet - hence no "history"

I suggest to create a top 50 sites inscribed less inspiring. Sites where we want to say when we got there, "What, is all that has to do ? Now listed UNESCO anything". Some ideas? Beemster Polder, what else ?
