It seems that having part of their built heritage in the "Routes of Santiago in Spain" WHS (including its beautiful, impressive cathedral) is not enough for the city of León, Spain. They also want to have the rest of the monuments within the city declared as a world heritage site, as it stems from this article . Having received the declaration of León "as the cradle of European parlamentarism" seems to be a reason for it, so criteria VI will be in that proposal. It is interesting, however, to eventually find out what other arguments they will give for a possible inscription of another historic center.

Steinhof and Otto Wagner Spital (Austria) ung-an

For many years the Vienna municipality planned on building apartments in the area, which would have made an application impossible. This was opposed by activists quite vehemently, making Icomos placing the site on its heritage altert. Thanks to Orban's politics, Soros's Central European University is moving to Vienna and is going to have its main quarters in the old hospital buildings. With this arrangement it seems Soros will pay for the preservation of the complex and a WHS application became attractive.
